LPGA TOUR PLAYERS THROW FIRST PITCHES AT MLB GAMES →

“Some of the LPGA Tour’s most recognizable names have been taking the mound in recent MLB games to throw out ceremonial first pitches.

Thirteen-time LPGA Tour winner Stacy Lewis threw the first pitch on Wednesday, May 1, at the Seattle Mariners game against the Atlanta Braves. The U.S. Solheim Cup captain and KPMG ambassador took the mound to help promote the KPMG Women’s PGA Championship, which is coming to Sahalee Country Club in Sammamish, Wash., in late June.”

New Albany's Mia Hammond named to inaugural U.S. national junior golf team by USGA →

“Mia Hammond, a New Albany High School sophomore and veteran of two LPGA tournaments, was announced Tuesday as one of 10 girls named to the USGA’s inaugural U.S. National Junior Team.

The team, which also consists of eight boys, will compete internationally, including in a friendly match this summer against Australia, according to a USGA press release.”

Emma Talley Smith joins WKU Women's Golf staff →

“Emma Talley Smith – LPGA Tour member, 2015 NCAA Champion, 2013 USGA U.S. Women's Amateur Champion and three-time KHSAA State High School Champion – will join the WKU Women's Golf staff, head coach Adam Gary announced on Tuesday.  

"I'm extremely excited to announce the addition of Emma to our staff," Gary said. "I've always said I wouldn't bring someone on unless they were a perfect fit, and I can't think of a better person than her. New Albany golf phenom Mia Hammond signs name, image, and likeness deal →

“ A 15-year-old New Albany golf phenom has taken a major step towards a professional career before she turns 16.

Mia Hammond, the Ohio high school girls golf champion in 2023, has signed deal with Columbus-based company Sterling Sports Management for name, image, and likeness representation. Based on Ohio High School Athletic Association rules, Hammond’s deal forfeits her amateur status and makes her ineligible to play golf with New Albany High School.”

Belac Earns Ladies European Tour Card Once Again →

“For the second straight year, former Duke women's golf standout Ana Belac earned her Ladies European Tour (LET) card on Wednesday as she fired rounds of 65, 70, 70, 76 and 69 over the last five days for a 13-under-par, 350, at Al Maaden Golf Marrakech in Morocco.  

Belac, a native of Portoroz, Slovenia, placed 12th overall to earn her 2024 LET Tour card.  She will receive Category 12 membership for the season, which should get her into all of the tournaments.  It marked the second straight year Belac turned in a 13-under ledger at LET Q-School.  Belac will also have full status on the Epson Tour in 2024 as well in the United States.”

GURLEEN KAUR GAINS LPGA TOUR STATUS AFTER ROOKIE YEAR ON EPSON TOUR →

“The 2023 season was one of growth for Baylor University alum Gurleen Kaur. Starting on the Women’s All Pro Tour (WAPT) in early April, Kaur played her way into No. 3 in the Race to Stage II. She also finished second at the FCA Women’s Championship in May to earn a few sponsor exemptions later in the Epson Tour season. Despite only making two of five cuts on the Epson Tour, the 23-year-old showed her talent late in the year, finishing T18 at the Circling Raven Championship and T2 at the Epson Tour Championship.”

Tabuena logs Top 9 finish on hot 64 →

“Miguel Tabuena delivered a strong finish in the BNI Indonesian Masters, closing with a fiery seven-under 64 to tie for ninth in the BNI Indonesian Masters ruled by India’s Gaganjeet Bhullar in runaway fashion in Jakarta Sunday.

“Stacy Lewis left the door open to be a playing captain in 2023. She had a plan in place in case she automatically qualified. In the end, captainship duties took a toll on her personal game. Once she actually got to Spain and went through a Solheim Cup in that role, well, let’s just say it won’t happen in 2024.”

Megan Khang Pro Golfer: America’s First Player of Hmong and Laotian Descent →

“At just 25 years old, Khang has competed in several golf tournaments and won her first big tournament recently at the LPGA CPKC Women’s Open in 2023. Standing at 5 ‘1, she has been playing golf ever since she was a little girl and decided to go into the professional world after high school in 2015.

Khang has an average driving range of 260 yards, placing her 85th among other LPGA players. Since her rookie year in 2016, she has played in 171 professional events.  Khang, the first LPGA player of Hmong and Laotian descent, hails from Rockland, Massachusetts.”

GURLEEN KAUR CONFIDENT AHEAD OF FINAL ROUND AT EPSON TOUR CHAMPIONSHIP

“With most players focused on earning LPGA Tour cards or automatic exemptions into LPGA Q-Series, it’s oft forgotten that there are players just working to retain their Epson Tour membership, players like Baylor University alum Gurleen Kaur. Kaur began the week ranked 146th on the official money list, only making one cut in four starts as a 2023 Epson Tour rookie. But through three rounds at the Epson Tour Championship, the 23-year-old is in a tie for fourth at 16-under and is projected to move from 146th to 91st on the official money list, well inside the top-125 cutoff needed to have Epson Tour membership for the 2024 season.”

MEGAN KHANG MAKES MOST OF THIRD SOLHEIM CUP APPEARANCE →

“Only a few players were undefeated at the 2023 Solheim Cup, one of whom was CPKC Women's Open winner Megan Khang. The now three-time Solheim Cupper went 3-0-1 in her four matches over the weekend at Finca Cortesin, earning 3.5 critical points for the U.S. team, a career-best for the LPGA Tour veteran.

Khang kicked off the week in Andalucia, Spain, playing alongside Lexi Thompson in the first foursomes session on Friday morning. The pair were up against the Swedish rookie duo of Linn Grant and Maja Stark, and the Americans took the lead on the first hole and never looked back, handily winning 2 and 1 over the Europeans.”
