U.S. captain Lewis conflicted on Solheim Cup tie rule, calls week a win →

The Quincy, Mass., resident was scheduled to throw out the first pitch at a Red Sox game in Fenway Park. She was getting advice from a 13-year-old baseball player, her boyfriend’s nephew.”

Ruixin Liu posts best round of year, leads Queen City Championship →

“Ruixin Liu of China was still suffering from allergies that forced her to withdraw from the LPGA Tour event last week. It didn't stop her from posting a 7-under 65 on Thursday for her best round of the year and a one-shot lead in the Kroger Queen City Championship.

Liu started so well that her lone regret was a par on the 12th hole when she hit her approach to 18 feet on the par 5 and three-putted for a par. She had seven birdies through 13 holes and then closed with five pars.”

Megan Khang earns 1st win, and Andrea Lee earns Solheim Cup spot at CPKC Women’s Open →

“Megan Khang needed an extra hole to win her first LPGA tournament in 191 career starts.

Andrea Lee agonizingly watched the leaderboard for nearly an hour to see if she would play on the Solheim Cup team for the first time.

It was worth the wait for both.

Khang beat Jin Young Ko with a par in a playoff for her first LPGA win, and Lee rallied to clinch a spot on the U.S. Solheim Cup team at the CPKC Women’s Open on Sunday.”

PGA Tour pro Loren Roberts heads into Tennessee Sports Hall of Fame →

“Over four decades, Loren Roberts has played in nearly 1,000 PGA Tour events, and has secured eight victories on the PGA and 13 wins on the Champions Tour.

Saturday, the longtime Mid-South resident will be honored as one of 12 inductees into the Tennessee Sports Hall of Fame.

“It means so much that the state of Tennessee would recognize me for having a great career,” said Roberts. “I’ve played pro golf for 40 years and I’ve been involved with the Tennessee Golf Foundation and the First Tee here in Memphis. Golf has been great.”

The event, despite its grand magnitude, seems to leave Khang unfazed. In her past five starts, the Massachusetts native has racked up four top-five finishes, with her best coming at the Olympic Club in 2021 (T-4).”

LPGA champion: LIV-PGA Tour merger can be a good thing for golf →

“The PGA Tour’s controversial decision to partner with rival LIV Golf earlier this month stunned fans and blindsided players, leaving many furious.

But there’s reason to view the agreement and LIV Golf’s influence as a positive for the game of golf.

LPGA major champion Stacy Lewis told Yahoo Finance that the upstart league — which is financially backed by Saudi Arabia’s Public Investment Fund — has already made the Tour "better.”

Jack Nicklaus won two U.S. Opens at Baltusrol and Phil Mickelson won his first PGA Championship there. The KPMG LPGA Championship pays a visit to Baltusrol’s Lower Course for the first time this week.

STACY LEWIS SHOWS MATCH-PLAY METTLE WITH GRITTY 2-UP WIN AT BANK OF HOPE →

“United States Solheim Cup captain Stacy Lewis showed up and showed out on the first day of the Bank of Hope LPGA Match-Play presented by MGM Rewards, defeating Scotland’s Gemma Dryburgh, 2 up, on Wednesday at Shadow Creek. Dryburgh took an early 1-up lead with a birdie on the par-5 fourth and Lewis responded quickly with a birdie on the par-3 fifth to tie the match. A Lewis eagle on No. 7 gave her a 1-up lead, which she held for two holes until Dryburgh parred the 10th to once again pull into a tie. Lewis got back to 1 up with a birdie on hole 12, but Dryburgh flipped the match, winning the next two holes to move to 1 up with four to play.”
