Emma Talley Pleased With Opening 67 At Windy Wilshire Country Club →
It’s been four weeks to the day since Emma Talley got engaged to her longtime boyfriend Patrick Smith and the happiness she’s been feeling off the golf course is definitely showing in her on-course play. The University of Alabama alum fired a 4-under 67 to open her week at the DIO Implant LA Open and needed just 26 putts to get the job done on a gusty day one at Wilshire Country Club, a place she feels especially comfortable with as a fade player.
“I putted well today. (The greens are) just tricky,” said Talley who has a 29.09 stroke putting average through nine events. “To putt well in the afternoon, that's great because tomorrow I'll have fresh greens at 7:30 in the morning. I think it sets up really good for a fade which is what I hit. I also have always loved this golf course ever since my rookie year. For some reason, it sets up good for my eye. I'm hitting the ball really well right now, and that goes a long way, especially when it's windy.”

Stacy Lewis Sad To Leave Mission Hills, But Excited For The Future →
A bench. That’s what made Stacy Lewis go misty-eyed when talking about her memories of the Dinah Shore Tournament Course at Mission Hills Country Club. Lewis made the beloved leap into Poppie’s Pond in 2011, a moment that she will forever associate with a simple locker-room bench.
“I had done my press conference and went in the locker room. I was still wet, trying to find clothes to change into,” said Lewis, her voice cracking as she looked out at the 18th green. “I sat on that bench and called my college coaches, and it was like it all hit me there. We don't get to do that. I'm getting emotional about it, but this place is so special to us as a tour. I'm just going to miss the whole week.”

“Brittany Lincicome started playing on the L.P.G.A. Tour in 2005, when it was a struggling endeavor with few events. Now, in her 18th season, the tour is thriving and she has no plans to retire any time soon.
“My parents had said, ‘Play 10 years and you can retire,’” Lincicome said. “Now there’s no end in sight. The prize money is out there. The purses are going up every year. It would be hard to leave. Plus, I would love to get a win and have my daughter there with me.”

The memories of her victory in a major in 2007 are still quite vivid for Morgan Pressel, who culminated a great performance at Mission Hills Country Club in Rancho Mirage, California with a series of “big putts” on 10, 12, 15 and the 72nd hole to win The Chevron Championship (then Kraft Nabisco).
“I remember standing on the range waiting for the final result and the rest was kind of a blur. Time went by really fast at that point. It was only my second year on Tour and probably the biggest moment in my career,” said 33-year-old Pressel, now a commentator for Golf Channel.

Stephenson Enjoys The Fruits Of A Different Type Of Sponsorship →
It’s not unusual for a group of club members to get together, pool their funds and help an aspiring LPGA Tour player during the early days of her career. That has been happening for generations. And those unsung financial heroes deserve a shoutout.
But it is quite unusual for an entire club to pick an LPGA Tour player who has no natural connection to the membership or the area and say, “Yeah, we’re all going to sponsor you and make you our professional ambassador.”

Stacy Lewis named youngest U.S. captain in Solheim Cup history (and she’s not ruling out playing too in 2023) →
It’s not a surprise Team USA has decided to go with a new captain for the 2023 Solheim Cup—but the name might be a little different than expected. On Wednesday, the LPGA announced Stacy Lewis has been selected to lead the Americans at the 2023 matches at Finca Cortesin in Andalucia, Spain
Lewis, a 13-time LPGA Tour winner and two-time major champion, served as an assistant captain in 2021 and, somewhat unofficially, in 2019 when a back injury forced her to withdraw from playing in Scotland. The 36-year-old has played in four Solheim Cups, with a career record of 5-10-1, and is the youngest woman to be selected as a U.S. captain (and second youngest overall). With her wealth of experience, she knows how important it is for players to feel comfortable during the stress-packed week.

I know most pro athletes are grateful for the sacrifices made by their parents along the way. I'm no different. But it took me some time to grasp what my parents have actually done for me.
You see, golf wasn't a big deal in China. I'm from a city called Shenzhen which is about an hour from Hong Kong. By age nine or ten, I knew I wanted to play golf for the rest of my life. My parents saw my potential and wanted to do whatever they could to support that dream. So, by the time I was 13, we moved to the other side of the world, to Orlando, Florida, where golf became our family's focus.
