Ryan was selected by the Texas Rangers in the 18th round of the 2007 amateur entry draft.
 
A true workhorse, Ryan finished the 2007 season with a team high 80.2 innings of work.  This included 13 starts, in addition to posting a pair of saves for the Sycamores.
 
During his freshman season, Ryan  threw 84.1 innings with a 8-2 record and 3.09 ERA.  Ryan was named 2nd Team All-MVC and was a 2-time MVC Pitcher of the Week.
