As the son of long time Atlanta Brave Bruce Benedict, Benedict has grown up with baseball flowing in his veins.  Benedict was the exact type of player that every team looks for entering the MLB Draft.  His strong leadership, plate discipline, and hitting ability led Griffin to be selected in the 16th Round of the 2009 MLB Draft by the San Diego Padres.   After being drafted by the Padres, Griffin progressed from Low A, to Single A, and even played a AAA game before the end of the season.  Just like his father, expect to see Griffin the majors in the next few years.
